People form an integral part of wildlife conservation efforts. Custodians of wildlife have an equal responsibility towards the well-being of communities adjacent to conservation areas. Abraham Maslow recognised that humans whose basic needs are satisfied will be motivated to progress to the next hierarchy of needs, namely love and belonging.

In the words of the Senegalese Forestry Engineer Baba Dioum: "In the end we will conserve only what we love, we will love only what we understand and we will understand only what we have been taught".
Since 1997 EcoLife Expeditions strives to contribute to the well-being of both wildlife and the people who share the earth with them. This journey provides an opportunity to those who have reached the top of Maslow's pyramid to make a positive impact on people and wildlife alike.
